The Positively Free From and Coeliac Community is dedicated to helping and supporting all who are living with diagnosed medical conditions that require a restricted diet.
The community has been formed to create a positive approach to life; not just for the newly diagnosed, but to retain support and a social network for those with experience of living with such conditions.
The support community started purely through newly diagnosed & fellow Coeliacs dropping into the Gallery Kitchen Café, where coeliac & dairy-free chef Lorraine is based, to seek advice.
Friendships formed, followed by once a month coeliac free-from cookery demonstrations & culinary surgeries, giving guidance on new ingredients and products that most newly diagnosed may not have seen, heard of or used before; plus covering all aspects of cross contamination.
Through the year of monthly demonstrations & fund raising for Coeliac UK, the group formed and has steadily grown, so is now titled the ‘Positively Free From and Coeliac Community’, due to our positive outlook upon free-from living.
It would be a folly to state that all of the community started out positive in spirit after diagnosis. Indeed, some to this day after many years still have ups and downs. The conception of the community has enabled support to be continual, not just once a month, as members communicate via text, email and meet up between groups.
